Description:

This paper may be considered step one in a sequence dedicated to solving the submersible identification problem. An efficient numerical scheme is constructed to compute the far field generated by scattering a generalized plane wave off an arbitrary submersible. Subsequent papers will deal with reconstruction of the object from the far field, and how to introduce the effect of a variable index of refraction using transmutation theory.
