Description:Northern Ohio contains some of the most industrialized and urbanized counties in Ohio and perhaps in the U.S. Economic sectors which have the greatest regional impact as they grow or decline were identified for a 17-county region in northern Ohio (Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Lucas, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, seneca, Summit, trumbull and Wood). These major industrial counties should receive special attention in both state and local economic development programs. This paper discusses the methodology and results of the input-output model used in the study as well as implications for regional growth; three tables detailing employment and employment multipliers for the sectors are included.
