Description:Although Lake Michigan water quality has vastly improved in the past three decades, concerns remain. Technical changes have increased the viability of using remote sensing as a monitoring tool. Different types of imagery are now available, more are coming on line each year, competition among firms will result in lower costs, and software to analyze the imagery is more user friendly. Users of the data are pushing the federal government to make this type of tax- supported program more accessible.
