Description:The specific objectives of the Nutrient Enhanced Coastal Ocean Productivity (NECOP) study are to: determine the degree to which coastal primary productivity has been enhanced in areas receiving terrestrial nutrient inputs; determine the impact of the resultant enhanced productivity on water quality; and determine the fate of fixed carbon in coastal areas and its impact on living resources within the affected coastal ecosystems. Field work in NECOP began during the summer of 1990; in October of 1991 a workshop was held to summarize progress to date. This report summarizes the observations and preliminary interpretations that were presented at that workshop.
