Description:The amount of "available" phosphorus extracted from sediment samples along the 30 mile length of the Pamlico Estuary was observed to decrease from 1.6 mg P/gm sediment in fresh water to 0.3 mg P/gm sediment in water with a salinity of 18 ppt.
