Description:This study examined the effect of irradiation on two highly infective strains of "Vibrio" sp. isolated from humans who contracted the illness after consuming oysters. The study also investigated the ability of consumers to differentiate irradiated oysters from untreated oysters and surveyed their attitudes toward food irradiation. It appears that irradiation works, does not affect taste, and the market for raw oysters remains high.
