Description:Since 1995, a 2 ha beach site in Biloxi has been used to demonstrate alternate and novel beach management approaches to erosion problems experienced along the 42 km of man-made beach in Mississippi. The site was extensively planted with native species, some of which have had low survival rates. This paper describes recent work conducted to find a method to enhance plant survival there, and to examine the ways by which this model reduced erosion and accretion of sand.
