Description:The study of chemical oceanography has grown tremendously over the past few years. Certainly a major part of this growth has been concerned with the various aspects of the chemistry of pollution as governments attempt to reduce the amount of marine pollution. However, pollution problems are only a part of chemical oceanography and a solid foundation in chemistry and chemical processes in marine waters is a necessary prerequisite to understanding many oceanographic problems.
