Description:The response to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill included the largest quantity of dispersants ever applied as well as the first use of dispersants at nearly 5,000 feet underwater. Since then, scientists have studied the effectiveness of and impacts from those dispersants and have made efforts to develop new, environmentally safe dispersants.
