Description:This study focuses on the subsynoptic and mesoscale environments of these three shore-parallel heavy snowfall events. It will test the decision tree of Mecikalski et al. (1989), pertaining to shore-parallel snow band development using these events. Additionally, it will show that strong localized low level warm air advection and a thermally induced convergence area played a significant role in making the December 15 to 16 case stand out from the other two cases.
