Description:The general scope of the Marine Geotechnical-Seafloor Stability Program activities of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is outlined in this report. A brief statement of each major subject element of the program is given. The report is intended as an information document, the bulk of which are maps, charts, and lists of past and present geographical areas of study, the type and detailed coverage of geophysical data obtained during regional and site-specific investigations, and the types and locations of the geological samples collected. A reference list of the publications resulting from the research is included. Numerous scientists and engineers, both nationally and internationally, have added critical dimensions and value to the various research efforts of the program throughout the years.
