Description:The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ocean Acidification Program (OAP) and NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Competitive Research Program (CRP) are working to better understand interactions between stressors such as harmful algal blooms (HABs) and coastal and ocean acidification (OA). Both HABs and OA are threats to marine ecosystems and human communities in the coastal zone, and understanding OA-HAB interactions emerged as a national priority in the 2020 NOAA Ocean Acidification Research Plan (Jewett et al., 2020). The virtual Harmful Algal Blooms and Ocean Acidification Workshop was held August 11-13, 2020. The workshop was designed to identify research needs and priorities at the intersection of OA and HABs.
