Description:"A new technique for sampling surficial sea-floor sediments using a dragline dredge in conjunction with a recording fathometer and precision-positioning system was developed as a result of deposit delineation research. The technique was developed during field operations conducted by the Marine Minerals Technology Center in May-June 1968 on Coronado Bank, Southern California and further defined in March 1969 during sampling operations on Cordell Bank, Central California. The accurate determination of location for samples taken using dragline dredges is of primary concern to the marine geologist. The report describes and illustrates in detail a method which should further the reliability of representative sampling of blanket-type sea-floor mineral deposits."
