Description:"A procedure is presented for estimating hourly snow accumulation at LaGuardia Field, N. Y., from observations of snow intensity or visibility. A relationship between reported snow intensity and estimated snowfall is shown on independent data to be reliable. Results can be applied as an aid in forecasting additional snow accumulation and in estimating previous snowfall when this information is not available from direct measurements. This technique could be developed for any other location."
