Description:The objective of this research project was to characterize the temporal and spatial variability of phytoplankton biomass in the Mississippi River plume and adjacent Louisiana shelf waters. Concentrations of chlorophyll-a and phaeopigments were measured during three research cruises in this region as part of NOAA's Nutrient Enhanced Coastal Ocean Productivity (NECOP) program. The data include both surface and subsurface phytoplankton pigment distributions during July 1990, March 1991, and May 1992.
