Description:The Miami International Airport (MIA) surface-air temperature and precipitation data for the period 1941-1990 were examined to determine El Niño's impact on the MIA climate. In this sample, El Niño years and the years just prior to El Niño years are relatively warm and the years that follow El Niño years are relatively cool. The MIA winter months in El Niño years tend to be relatively rainy in comparison to those of non El Niño years. The winter and spring of years preceding El Niño years tend to be relatively dry.
