Description:A total of 12 samples were taken... All samples were taken in pairs, one meter apart. For each, the core was inserted approximately 13 cm. into the sediment so that each sample involved one liter of material. Upon returning to the laboratory, the samples were sieved through a 0.5 mm screen, and the organisms retained were then identified to the lowest taxa feasible.
