"The objective of the biological phase of the study was to document the effects of harvesting commercial-sized brown shrimp on sub-commercial pink shrimp during late fall, and to determine survival of overwintering pink shrimp during the following spring. The purpose of the economics study was to specify a framework within which alternative public policy actions concerning pink shrimp discard can be evaluated."--Leaf 2.
