Description:This document is a guideline focused on towed-diver training, field sampling, and data entry for the monitoring of benthic habitat, select macroinvertebrates, and large-bodied (greater than 50 cm in total length) reef fishes and species of interest in shallow-water reefs as part of the Pacific Reef Assessment and Monitoring Program (Pacific RAMP) for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) National Coral Reef Monitoring Program (NCRMP), led by the Ecosystem Sciences Division (ESD) of the NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC). The standard towed-diver survey operating procedures outlined in this report apply to Pacific RAMP surveys that the ESD and its partners conduct across coral reef ecosystems in the Hawaiian Archipelago (including the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument), the Mariana Archipelago (including Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument), the Territory of American Samoa (including Rose Atoll Marine National Monument), and the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument (including Wake, Johnston, Palmyra, and Kingman Atolls and Howland, Baker, and Jarvis Islands).
