Description:The eastern Bering Sea (BS) groundfish fisheries in the U.S. exclusive economic zone (EEZ) are managed under the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Area (BSAI). The Fishery Management Plan (FMP) was prepared by the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC, Council) under the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson Act). The FMP was approved by the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary) and became effective in 1982.
