Description:The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) proposes to implement the Western Alaska Community Development Quota (CDQ) program pursuant to Amendment 18 to the Fisheries Management Plan (FMP) for the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) area, approved on March 4, 1992, as authorized by the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson Act) . This action is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) and the Secretary of Commerce (Secretary) with respect to groundfish management in the BSAI area.
