Description:Introduction: "Air pollution is a major hazard to wildlife, vegetation, and humans, and aesthetic nuisance, and economic burden. Yet it has been traditionally been accepted as a necessary evil, partner of modern economic development. In part, this acceptance has been caused by the inability of scientists to accurately quantify dangers and costs of pollution. This lack of awareness is accompanied by high costs of pollution control and a widespread reluctance on the part of private individuals and private industry to assume the costs. Pollution control is still a technological problem, but it is an economic and educational problem as well."
