Description:The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to the ocean sciences by encouraging them to think about their personal experiences with the ocean and its resources. The lesson also introduces students to the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB), a national competition for high school students in the ocean sciences. The lesson explains the rules of the competition and provides reasons why students might want to participate. Students practice a Mock Bowl focusing on the competition rules.
