Description:"Knowledge of the early life history of red drum in the Gulf of Mexico, particularly in north central Gulf waters, is inadequate to describe the recruitment process in this species. The overall objectives of the study described in this report were to characterize diel, vertical, and horizontal patterns in the distribution of red drum larvae and their planktonic prey in offshore waters; to document trophic ontogeny and prey selectivity; and to determine growth rates of field-caught larvae using otolith growth increment methodology"--National Sea Grant Library publication website.
