Advantages and disadvantages of each alternative are listed along with cost and economic data estimates. Although costs vary with time and geographic location, the estimates can help you decide which alternatives you might want to investigate more thoroughly. Alternatives described include speed reduction, hull maintenance, self-polishing paints, fuel flow meters, track plotters, LORAN C equipment, turbochargers, engine changeout, diesel fuel preheaters, controllable pitch propellers and bulbous bows.
