    The purpose of this report is to provide timely information to the U.S. fishing industry and other interested parties on catch rates and average lengths of commercially important groundfish sampled during a groundfish assessment survey conducted in the eastern Bering Sea in the summer of 2000. The survey was conducted by the Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) during the period from May 23 to July 20. This report briefly describes survey methods and contains figures illustrating the distribution, relative abundance, and size composition of commercially important species of groundfish. Species included are walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma), Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus) , yellowfin sole (Limanda asper), rock sole (Lepidopsetta potyxystra) , flathead sole (Hippoglossoides elassodon and H. robustus) , Alaska plaice (Pteuronectes quadrituberculatus), arrowtooth flounder (Atheresthes stomias and A. evermanni) , and Greenland turbot (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides). An appendix to the report presents detailed position and catch data for each station fished.
