Description:In 2019, NOAA Fisheries funded a 5-year Strategic Initiative (SI) in support of research and development toward system deployment of FT-NIR spectroscopy for fish age determination. To date, the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) has hosted four FT-NIR spectroscopy workshops, inviting staff from the regional NOAA age determination laboratories and experts in the field from around the world to share their research. These proceedings summarize presentations made at the fourth SI research workshop entitled, “Rapid Estimation of Fish Age Using Fourier Transform Near Infrared Spectroscopy”, held at the AFSC in Seattle, WA, April 3-7, 2023.
