Description:Update of a 2007 strategic plan, to more accurately reflect the National Marine Protected Areas Center's evolving structure and priorities, with a greater emphasis on further developing the national system of MPAs and its operational capabilities. Also notes special interest areas of importance to the implementation of the national system over the next five year planning cycle, including resilience to climate change through enhanced MPA management, and coastal and marine spatial planning. Introduces the MPA Center's vision, mission and goals, as well as cross-cutting functions within the Center. Provides overviews, objectives, and performance measures for the Center's three goals: 1. Build and maintain the National System of Marine Protected Areas; 2. Facilitate International, National, and Regional Coordination of MPA Activities; and 3. Improve Capacity for Effective MPA Stewardship through the National System.
