Description:"EX1005 is a transit cruise between Guam and Hawaii. The ship will be returning from the INDEX-SATAL 2010 mission in Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The cruise will consist of 24 hour mapping with the EM302 multibeam sonar, and will also include a survey of opportunity conducted by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The survey of opportunity will include running a Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) during the entire two week transit. When possible, the ship will transit a route parallel and offset 5 to 10 kilometers to the route it took in April 2010 (EX1003, Hawaii to Guam) to maximize mapping efficiency and continuity of areas explored"--Abstract (FGDC metadata).
