Description:The Auroral Electrojet index (AE) is discussed and a detailed description is given of the derivation of 2.5-min AE indices for 1970. Tables are given of hourly average indices for each day of the year and of the stations which supplied the extreme deviations from quiet time levels for each hour. Graphs of the variations of the indices are included for each day.
