Description:Measuring lake-atmosphere heat fluxes allows for increased understanding of evaporation processes and is imperative for weather and water prediction in the Great Lakes region. To address this need, the Great Lakes Evaporation Network (GLEN) has deployed and maintained eddy covariance stations on lighthouses in remote areas of each of the Great Lakes since 2008. Data from these stations are used for calculating turbulent latent and sensible heat fluxes. The Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) manages three stations within the GLEN network including Spectacle Reef, White Shoal, and Toledo Channel Marker #2 which are respectively located in Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Erie. This technical memorandum describes the processing used to calculate latent and sensible heat flux variables for these three stations and defines the quality control applied to the data to ensure accuracy of the measurements.
