Description:The porpoise genus Phocoena (family Phocoenidae) comprises four species that are found mainly in cold coastal waters. The harbor porpoise (P. phocoena) is found along the western and eastern coasts of the North Pacific and North Atlantic, whereas the Burmeister's porpoise (P. spinipinnis) occurs along much of the western coast of South America and the southern half of the eastern coast. The spectacled porpoise (P. dioptrica) is found in the southern waters off Argentina and subantarctic islands including the Falklands/Malvinas, South Georgia, Kerguelen, Heard, Macquarie, and Auckland.
