Description:The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) approves Amendment 7 to the Fishery Ecosystem Plan for the American Samoa Archipelago (FEP) as recommended by the Western Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council). Amendment 7 discontinues the rebuilding plan for the American Samoa bottomfish stock complex, which NMFS determined to be not overfished or experiencing overfishing in September 2023. With this FEP Amendment, NMFS will also implement new annual catch limits (ACLs) and accountability measures (AMs) for the fishery pursuant to the rulemaking authority under Section 303(a) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act).
