Description:The Alaska Fisheries Science Center’s Polar Ecosystems Program and the University of Washington’s Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies conducted a research expedition aboard the RV Norseman II to sample and deploy biologgers on ribbon and spotted seals in the Bering Sea in April-May 2024. The objective of this project is to study the habitat requirements of ribbon and spotted seals and their ecological relationships with sea ice, in the core of their breeding area in the Bering Sea.
