Description:Fortner and Rogers (1971) have related various observed thermal parameters at Caribou, Maine (radiosonde location) to the occurrence of precipitation type at Loring Air Force Base, Maine, during the period 1 June 1957 through 1 April 1966. The thermal parameter combinations used by Fortner and Rogers are 1000-850 mb. thickness, 1000-700 mb. thickness, 1000-500 mb. thickness, 850-700 mb, thickness, and the surface, 950 mb., 900 mb., 800 mb., and 700 mb. temperatures.
