Description:K-index values, computed for Pittsburgh from radiosonde data, were related to the frequency of occurrence of precipitation at Pittsburgh during the summer months of 1971. Precipitation was considered to have occurred if a trace or greater was observed at the Pittsburgh airport within plus or minus six hours of the valid time of the K-index.
