Description:On January 20, 1976 a new dimension was added to the GOES infrared (IR) pictures distributed to Eastern Region WSFOs by the Washington Satellite Field Services Station. The IR pictures can now be enhanced in such a way that quantitative temperature estimates can be made of cloud tops, and cloud top temperature differences can be better seen.
