Description:National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Offices on the U. S. East and Gulf Coasts receive user requests for positions of the Gulf Stream and Loop Current, temperatures of coastal and offshore waters, and other marine information. Through the use of the enhanced SMS/GOES infrared (IR) imagery, the NWS with assistance available from SFSS personnel can now better answer these requests. The following are examples of satellite oceanic information that could be of value to the NWS marine program.
