Description:During the morning of February 18, 1976, a squall line formed in northeast Louisiana and western Mississippi and then proceeded east and northeast through the day. The squall line was included on the 1200 GMT NMC surface analysis (Figure 1). This line later necessitated the issuance of three watches along its path as it produced tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. In North Carolina alone, the combination of seven confirmed small tornadoes and severe thunderstorms produced around one million dollars damage and severa1 injuries.
