Description:In the first Technical Attachments on the spectral model, we examined what is meant by spectral modeling. In the second Technical Attachment we looked at how the spectral method can be used to calculate derivatives (i.e., gradients, vorticity, divergence, etc.) and hence make a forecast of meteorological fields. In this Technical Attachment we will get away from the mathematics of a spectral model and emphasize more the meteorological implications.
