Description:It seems ironic to be discussing the poor performance of the LFM, this past winter, after the near-perfect performance of the LFM in forecasting the Blizzard of '82 (April 6). Technical Attachment 82-05, 3/15/82, discussed the poor performance of the LFM and the potential use of the 500mb wave number 0-5 chart (NMCGPH5T5) in diagnosing its performance. The LFM error patterns, for the past winter, were promised for a future Technical Attachment and are now presented, below.
