Description:On December 7, 1983, an intense winter storm moved down the St. Lawrence Valley producing wind gusts over 50 mph throughout much of New England, with some areas reporting gusts to nearly 70 mph. Some of the higher gusts over southern New England were: Boston - 60 mph; Dorchester, MA - 69 mph; Nantucket - 67 mph; Worcester, MA - 59 mph; Providence, RI - 49 mph; Hartford, CT - 48 mph; and Bridgeport, CT - 54 mph.
