Description:In their unpublished manuscript titled "Characteristics of Water Vapor Imagery"(1) Weldon and Steinmetz provide. a good summary of the advantages of water vapor images: "Water vapor imagery especially when used in time lapse motion is an excellent tool for observing the location and evolution of upper air circulation systems. The water vapor patterns fill in the regions where no mid or high clouds are present and aid in the interpretation of standard infrared imagery. Diurnal and propagational effects are minimized and compared to other imagery, the patterns and their changes appear more fluid like."
