Description:This study looks at the relationship between the occurrence of heavy lake effect snows and the amount of ice cover on Lake Erie. Using this information forecasters may be able to cut back on the over-forecasting tendencies and develop a relationship between observed ice cover and the chances for a heavy lake effect snowstorm in northeast Ohio.
