Description:In January and February of 1990 the Lake Ontario Winter Storms (LOWS) project monitored meteorological conditions over the eastern basin of Lake Ontario and upwind. The project applied advanced remote sensing techniques to lake effect storms to determine if the new technology could be used to provide more accurate forecasts and nowcasts of the location and intensity of snowbands.
