Description:The study covers a basic research investigation leading to knowledge of meso-scale weather systems and of fronts, air masses, and larger-scale flow patterns over and near Greenland. The primary objective is to advance knowledge and understanding of Arctic meteorology and to enhance the scientific capability of predicting meteorological conditions in the Arctic. The investigation covers a program of synoptic climatological and theoretical research on the meteorology of Greenland, with a view toward developing an understanding of and a capability to predict the most frequent, important, unusual, or severe weather conditions.
