Description:There is a worldwide demand for marine fisheries data to ensure their sustainable harvest and management, and to inform the public. To help meet these needs in the central and western U.S. Pacific Islands, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS or NOAA Fisheries) Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) Honolulu Laboratory initiated the Western Pacific Fisheries Information Network (WPacFIN) in the early 1980s.
