Description:To monitor the survival of outmigrating juvenile salmonids, the use of acoustic telemetry (AT) has become widespread in recent years. This technology allows researchers and resource managers to monitor fish outmigration in real-time, allowing for more informed management decisions. Currently, the Juvenile Salmon Acoustic Telemetry System (JSATS) is used throughout the California Central Valley (CCV) to track outmigrating juvenile salmon, and underwater hydrophones detect the presence of fish and allow for survival estimates to be generated in specific reaches of interest.
