Description:The proposed project is designed to restore and enhance ecosystem processes with a focus on enhancing productive juvenile salmonid rearing habitat to increase the natural production of salmonids in the NCC and provide non-natal rearing habitat for Central Valley (CV) spring-run and Sacramento River (SR) winter-run Chinook Salmon. The improvements will support the Central Valley Protection Plan’s Conservation Strategy, while simultaneously reducing flood risk, providing significant fish and wildlife habitat benefits, maintaining water quality within the NCC, and protecting local agricultural and riparian landscapes. Project actions include habitat enhancement including grading and strategic riparian planting, construction activities including diversion pump updates, fish screen installations, temporary access channels, staging areas, and resurfacing landside ramps, and restoration monitoring.
