Description:The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ship Gordon Gunter departed Pascagoula, MS on August 22, 2014 to initiate the Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) Fall Ichthyoplankton Survey in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The SEAMAP Program is a cooperative State/Federal/University program designed to collect biological and environmental data from waters of the U.S. GOM. During the fall survey, plankton samples are collected from a systematic grid of stations to assess distribution, occurrence and abundance of the early life stages of a variety of species of fishes and invertebrates. A total of 31 successful sea days were worked over two legs during the cruise: Leg I, August 22 – September 8; Leg II, September 18 – 30.
